Matejka M. Handley

Matejka Handley’s primary practice areas include assisting schools with compliance with special education, section 504, and charter petition development. Prior to joining Young, Minney & Corr, LLP, Matejka spent a year volunteering for AmeriCorps as an infrastructure programmer for two San Francisco Bay Area children’s non-profits focused on early childhood development and education.Matejka graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies Political Science and double minored in History as well as Urban Studies and Planning from the University of California, San Diego. She received her Juris Doctorate, with specialized certificates in youth law and public interest law, from the Golden Gate University School of Law. During her time at law school, Matejka earned a spot on the Dean’s list for four semesters, competed in Moot Court, and served as a member of the Pro Bono Honor Society. Matejka has represented parents and children in dependency matters involving allegations of abuse or neglect in four counties and clerked for a San Francisco Superior Court dependency Judge. Through her work advocating for children and families, she was honored with two Equal Justice Works Fellowship grants, two Public Interest Law Foundation grants, and a certificate of child advocacy from a San Francisco law firm.
